12 Dal, or also known as 12 moon is a hybrid marketplace and dining concept in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This new dining concept is the combined effort of six different food and beverage partners, each specialising in their niche area of cuisine and products.
Besides dining, customers also get to shop for smoked meats, vegetables, bread and even home-brewed traditional Korean alcohol at the marketplace within the restaurant. The six partners of 12 Dal specialises mainly in Traditional Alcohol, Deli, Jam & Jelly, Extract, Bread & Meal and Vegetables. Such retail meets dining concepts are slowly taking rise in Seoul and almost mirrors the whole idea behind a famers’ market where people can eat and shop at the same place while discovering new foods for their discerning tastebuds.
We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with Rice from mmham and Spaghetti Carbonara from ROOT. The chicken was grilled to perfection, drizzled with warm homemade teriyaki sauce on top of a bed of fragrant rice, which is garnished with a dash of chopped spring onions and chilli flakes for the extra punch in flavours. Simple ingredients but great food!
The Spaghetti Carbonara was equally as good. Doused in bacon-infused fresh cream that was sweetened by caramelised onions. And served with a generous amount of bacon bits, broccoli and garnished with lotus root chips on top. mhm, hungry yet?
If you are visiting Seoul, this should be in your “Places To-Eat” list because 12dal is all about using top quality ingredients to whip up great tasting food. Not to forget, 12 Dal is a refurbished hanok with a cool and modern interior, featuring a glass ceiling that covers the courtyard, simply perfect for that next photo opportunity.
