Botanist is a recent addition to the busy café scene in Tanjong Pagar that has already blossomed and come into its own.
Besides the visually appealing plating of the common brunch staples, this cafe – is the brainchild between Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters and Alchemist – also serves coffee made from freshly roasted beans from its upstair neighbour, which you may buy some to take home if you can’t get enough.
The gloomy forecast and impending rain that came crashing down on us that day did not deter anyone from heading there as the cafe was packed to the brim, which is always a good sign! Because when the food is good the queue speaks for itself… but if you’re not a fan of sharing tables, be prepared to wait even longer for a seat.
Our recommendations from the menu includes the Corn Fritters – served atop some hummus (artistically plated of course) garnished with guacamole and a mixture of baby spinach and edible flowers tossed in yuzu vinaigrette – as well as the Catch of the Day, a pesce dish which might have been more accurate if it was referred to Fish of the Day instead, because it was obviously not caught on the same day, but otherwise everything tasted fine. After all, how can anyone fault a dish that is so pleasant looking when we live in this day and age where we now feast with our eyes.
And while you wait for your food, which might take awhile as the cafe is usually packed on weekends, you might want to head up to the second floor and check out Knockhouse Supply Co. for all your coffee necessities and supplies, ranging from drinkwares to coffee beans that are freshly roasted in-house.
